It's a mindset.......

It's a commitment.....

It's NOT that hard.....

I hear it all the time....It's so hard to workout, it's so hard to eat healthier.......

REALLY???? is it harder than feeling the feelings you have about yourself? Is it harder than dragging your ass, lacking energy, struggling to leave the house, feeling uncomfortable in your own skin, covering up, fearing judgement, feeling embarrassed......worrying about your health and whether you're on the verge of diabetes, heart issues, or other organ failure, taking a shit ton of pills to help something that could likely be managed or mitigated with cleaner nutrition and some exercise???


CHOOSE YOUR HARD!!!!! Make a decision to change or stay the same PERIOD.

It may take some time to ease into it.....it may take some struggles and some hard times.....but holy shit man.....is anything you "want" in life "easy"????? Challenge makes us stronger. Challenge helps us to grow. What happened to working for what you have? You don't go to work and sit there doing nothing to get paid right? If you wanna get paid, you've gotta do the work.....So, if you wanna change, you're gonna have to do the work! same shit, different pile.

The choice is yours! We're here to help encourage you every step of the way!!!! ​

Commitment means getting shit done when you don't wanna do it.

It means dragging your ass up off the couch despite your mind and body saying "eff it".

It means letting go of how "inconvenient" it may be and just DOING it cause you have your eyes on the prize.

It means remembering WHY you started in the first place.

It means swallowing your excuses and knowing that your body cant go where you mind wont......so get your head in the game and your heart focused on HOW this will improve you......

Your excuses are what got you here......now its your chance to OWN your decisions....to take CONTROL of your mind and body and make your goals come alive!

YOU have the power to create change.

Who's gonna win this time??? your excuses or YOU????

Just START....Stop thinking and start doing

If you STOP thinking about this "thing" as a destination and start seeing it for what it is......LIFESTYLE CHANGE....you may see that its not nearly as HARD as you're making it out to be!

Stop overthinking and finding every reason in the book why you can't start NOW and just start making small changes! like right now! instead of your regular night time snack......SKIP IT and have water or opt for some veggies instead and if you dont want the veggies then i guess you're not hungry!

You already know what "quitting" feels like, so stop f&cking quitting on yourself. This is a culmination of a few things.....thinking better about yourself.....loving yourself a little more.......DOING instead of THINKING about why you CANT.....the amount of time you THINK about why you should or shouldn't DO IT, could be better spent just getting shit done!

So, what are you gonna change? what are you going to implement TONIGHT to start back on this path to a healthier you?

10 minutes of leg lifts and crunches with some pushups while you watch your show tonight? a better night time snack? more water now and as soon as you wake up?

My MESS is my MESSAGE

I have a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes waffling on whether or not to share....but I know my MESS is my message and that THIS may just HELP someone who NEEDS it right now!

"Don't worry about it!" "It's no big deal!" "Well, I saw her at Walmart and she seemed fine!"

ALL statements that as an outsider, are valid....but as someone who suffers from anxiety (....the dis-ease that is all but INVISIBLE, and unless you've EXPERIENCED it to some degree, have NO idea just how crippling it can be), can make the panic even worse (Do they think I'm CRAZY? OMG, they totally think I'm nuts and they don't get it. I can't make it stop. and then the post anxiety embarrassment sets in....I told them I have anxiety, now they think I'm crazy and won't wanna be friends with me anymore...what if "x", "y", "z" etc.)

When you're IN it....one of the LAST things you want to hear is "don't worry about it" or "it's NO big deal" cause CLEARLY when your mind is in control and you aren't, THAT which you're worrying about or panicking about IS a big deal to YOUR MIND.....
Maybe you KNOW what I mean cause you've been the one with anxiety or panicking, or maybe you're the one who often finds yourself saying "don't worry about it".....I'm learning how to communicate when I'm not IN the anxiety, how those around me can help pull me out of it....THIS is a HUGE realization for me.

I've learned so much about this nasty thing called ANXIETY through living it....like REALLY having to FACE it. What I've learned (and kinda REALLY communicated today for the first time as I've been having anxiety on and off for a few days now....a few hours im OK and then BOOM...PANIC and ANXIETY that leaves me breathless and frozen or angry with tears streaming down my face) is that I've ALWAYS had anxiety.....despite thinking that this is pretty new to me.

I've JUST realized, because I CANNOT drink at all now (fatal interaction with my meds) that I've always just poured myself a glass of wine when it started, which would quickly take the "edge" off and my anxiety would dissipate only to resurface just as quickly as SOON as I wake in the morning.

I'm learning SO much about myself....how to communicate and vocalize my struggles, how to learn to COPE with it without my usual vice, and how to share the struggle in hopes of helping someone else to know that they're NOT alone.

I've learned of the DYDQ (Don't You Dare Quit) campaign, and project Semi-Colon, both of which are now near and dear to me.
I've learned that despite my "dis-ease" I'm still a great mom, a great wife, a great friend, a great coach, and a great entrepreneur.
I've learned that it's ok to NOT be ok sometimes, but quickly use one of my coping strategies to help me reduce the anxiety and communicate with my partner who is now more educated on HOW to support me through it!

The last few months have been the most rewarding and most challenging of my life. I'm LEANING IN and learning about ME and somehow sharing the realness of it all so that someone else can relate to a "real" person who SEEMS to have it all together but struggles JUST the same  <3

I didn't START Here!

Sometimes, looking back....I can't believe how far I've come 😜🙌🏻

Some may think I've always "been here" but I haven't.
​
The truth is that I am serial quitter! 🙈😭. I'm really good at starting things but really not great at the follow through.
I can't even count the number of times I "tried" to get in shape and create positive change, but within a week or two found myself right back where I was.

Maybe I jumped in too hard, too fast. Maybe it "wasn't my time". Maybe I just didn't find something I LOVED!

Maybe I just didn't have the determination and the drive or the willpower and WHY to keep pushing 🌟

But...I'm here now and I'm only looking back to see how far I've come💖

I've learned so much in life from things I've done and "mistakes" I've made.....ill never stop learning and growing....but I do know that when it comes to THIS lifestyle.....I will stop QUITTING! 🙌🏻💪🏻💥

I've had my last day one.....have you?!

Your MINDSET determines your MOOD >>> your THOUGHTS manifest into BEHAVIOUR, ACTIONS, and WORDS.....🙌🏻😝
Its true....think about it! You only say, act, and behave in a certain way because you're THINKING a certain way! I've been learning SO much over the past few years about this topic and working REALLY hard to make CONSCIOUS efforts to question WHY I`m saying or doing something when I`m in that "GAWD I don't like when I'm like this" feeling....you know, the one that you CANNOT seem to get out of when you're in it....you just keep ranting and venting, making it worse and worse???

Ok maybe I'm alone in this......but maybe I'm NOT?😂

Maybe YOU, like ME, find that your mind can get so bogged down and foggy with all the "stuff" on your plate.....and instead of just DOING....you THINK and get so flustered that your mood goes SOUTH and you just spiral into "pissed off at the world" mood. 🙈
I've been employing a STRATEGY to overcome this for a few years now, and NO, NOT always, cause I STILL fly off the handle on occasion (Shaun.....dont you dare comment 😜lol).....but, I KNOW, when I've been spending TIME working on my MIND, filling it up with POSITIVE words, energy, and STUFF, that I'm calmer, I'm more calculated in my THOUGHT processes and in turn, I'm more stable, happy, and positive in my behaviours, actions, and words.

You see, its all connected.....when you're able to STOP the behaviours, actions and words at the STARTING POINT.....THE THOUGHTS.....you can take the SAME situation and see something TOTALLY different.

You can take a single experience and flip it ENTIRELY on its head and have a POSITIVE outcome instead of a downright sh%tty one🙌🏻

SO, next time you're stuck in a "mood" ask yourself.....How can I change my THOUGHT process to see this differently? How can I find something POSITIVE in this? How has this experience provided me with something that, otherwise, I wouldn't have seen? or noticed?

PERCEPTION is everything.....and what you PERCEIVE can change SO drastically if your MINDSET is focusing on POSITIVE instead of the opposite 💖

Those are my thoughts on this BEAUTIFUL Monday morning!

BELIEVE in YOU

We talk a lot about self-love in my challenge group....cause the reality is that any journey of "transformation" is more than simply physical....I would argue that there's a lot more going on, for many, mentally and emotionally, behind the scenes, that contributes to the overall sense of well-being, and results in physical change as an added bonus.

To create change in our lives, we have to be mentally prepared for it, and we have to BELIEVE in ourselves and all that we are capable of! When we don't believe.....we tend to give up very easily!

How many times have you been paid a compliment that you brush off? Have you ever stopped to consider WHY you're brushing it off? Is it because you don't truly BELIEVE it? or are you just humble and feeling embarrassed?

I know for ME, I typically brush off compliments that I don't believe! "Alida, you look so great today!" "oh this, thanks....its so old"......almost deflecting what was said to me......typically because of some sort of sense of "lack" or disbelief!

It truly doesn't MATTER what others think of us (well it does, but it won't help you to progress on a personal level) if we don't believe in it ourselves!

Do you ever stop to celebrate all that you DO WELL? or all that you have accomplished? How far you've come from where you once were? what you've overcome? or do you always cut yourself up? belittle, undermine, second guess, or downplay........
This is negative self-talk and it can be extremely detrimental! I'm not immune.....I struggle with this every single day! Even when I'm on my highest high, its like I stop at NOTHING to find SOMETHING wrong with myself.

It takes conscious efforts to change your mindset about yourself and BELIEVE in all that you are!!!

Today, I challenge you to LOOK IN THE MIRROR and say ONE nice thing to yourself!!! This is a very therapeutic experience, and may even evoke emotions and tears!!!! Know that YOU are worth celebrating!

Make them your REASON NOT your EXCUSE!

My 6 week old can't do it YET, but my 3.5 and 5.5 year olds CAN ;) I started this journey when Shanna was 2 months old, and Layna 2 years old.....and look at them now!!! It's all they know!!!

It wasn't always easy to workout with them awake....but over time, they got used to the fact that mommy took 30 minutes almost every day to do her exercises. Now it's part of OUR life.....they're seeing first hand, the importance of fitness and nutrition from both Mommy and Daddy!

I had a gazillion reasons NOT to workout today, but after checking in with my challengers, I dug DEEP and made it happen!

Positive breeds Positive

It's not always easy.....

Each day is different, with its own challenges and achievements...sometimes it's hard to see the greatness through the tough moments.....

We all have them....what allows some to push through and continue with a smile on their face, is their ability to choose the positive....to FEEL the positive and thereby project positive and receive positive. 

Some of you, who know me well, know that my "motivational" or "inspirational" posts always reflect that which I'm dealing with in my personal life. 

It's not all rainbows and butterflies, it's just that when I'm able to dig myself out of the fog and remember that I have a choice in how my days go, I'm reminded of how blessed I am and that my struggles are truly minuscule in the grand scheme of things. When I'm IN it tho....I retreat. I won't post as much....I allow myself to be overrun with emotions and feelings of failure......wavering in my self-esteem and confidence.......shedding tears and feeling lost.......

Emotions sometimes run high...hormones all over the place.....feelings sometimes taking over the "reason" in us.....

Yesterday I stole some time to sit down and read "The Power" by Rhonda Byrne.....and even those few minutes of reading reminded me to choose positive. 

Our feelings control our thoughts. Our thoughts control our emotions and our actions. 

Be mindful of your feelings for they have more power than you know. 

Today I'm trying harder.

Support goes a long way

​For YEARS Shaun Corkery tried to get me to improve my physical health (which, I didn't realize, would also improve my mental health). After we were married, he tried....he really did.....to get me motivated to join him at the gym. I spent more time reading and napping than I care to admit. 

It wasn't until many years later, when he took a job away from home, that I turned to exercise as an outlet (after trying the whole drinking thing first......). 

Our kids were YOUNG....once I started....the benefits I saw were almost immediate. 

I've been on this journey for 3 years now.....crazy how time flies....and my life....our lives, are forever changed. 

Shaun has had some heart issues, which have drastically altered his abilities, but we share a passion for health and fitness that I truly feel has brought us closer together and enabled us the ability to demonstrate the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle to our children 

Thank you for never giving up on me and for your continuous and endless support, as I continue to work on ME, help others to make the same changes I finally did, and build my home-based business. I couldn't have done it without you! 

4 ish weeks till we become 5......holy cow......
