How do YOU use food?

A conversation was brought up in my Free online motivation and support group for health and fitness and i thought i would share with you all!  

Many people are raised with food (most notably treats) being used as a source of 'reward' or as something that is associated with celebrations or achievements like getting an 'A' on a report card or being a "good girl".......while this, in the moment, seems like a fantastic idea, it can also set precedent and lead to very unhealthy behavioral associations throughout life.....

Many people continue with these associations and end up turning to food in times of celebration, stress, as reward etc......

There are so many other healthy ways to celebrate and reward - food can be seriously misused and can end up, as such, being a cause of stress and anxiety, or comfort and reward for life.  I encourage each of you to assess how you look at food.  If you have children, contemplate how your treatment of food, say, as a reward for good behaviour (treats in particular) can be a cause of lifelong behavioral associations that may not ever be broken........

Let's make changes now so we don't have to later!  Let's lead by example and place proper value on food.  FUEL FOR OUR PRECIOUS MACHINES......we are SO WORTH IT!

Let the Haters Hate

Today's post is inspired by some events that took place this week after a friend of mine was censored on Facebook following her publication of a blog post about her health and fitness journey!  (Links to both the story and the censorship rebuttal are posted below).  She is a professional blogger and also the woman who featured my "Inspirational Mom" story in Herscoop.com). This friend has featured many and FINALLY stepped out to share her own story......only to be faced with hate and censorship.  

No matter what you do and where you go in life you will always encounter 'haters' - those people who see the positive in your life, regardless of what it is, and they find a way to turn it into a negative thing.  Whether they put you down, talk behind your back, laugh in your face, question your decisions, insult you, interrogate you, turn a blind eye, bully you, etc. they are simply lacking something in their life that they do not want to face.  They see the good in what you are doing and rather than pick themselves up and do something that helps their situation, they choose to placate and undermine others' happiness.  This goes for anything in life.  

I want you to remember your why!  Why are you doing this? and how are you going to protect yourself from being dragged down by the haters?!  How will you handle the situation.  VERY IMPORTANT....it's not WHAT is said or done to us but rather how we REACT to what's said or done that matters.  YOU have the ability to take the positive from the situation.  Harness the happiness that you have created in your life and shield yourself from exposure and infiltration of the negative that the 'haters' try to project onto you. 

THINK before you REACT....If you choose to reactive harshly or negatively that reaction is simply adding fuel to their fire and only serving to bring you down...........All words and actions undergo a process before they can happen.  We must FEEL before we can THINK....we must THINK before we can BEHAVE......if you CHANGE the feeling at the source you can alter the outcome of the entire situation.  

TRY IT!  Remember your why and don't falter!  Stay true to YOU and most importantly, BELIEVE IN YOURSELF.  

YOU'RE WORTH IT.
