I'm reading "You Are a Badass" and am loving the tone of the book! So much of it speaks directly to me. Here are a few takeaways from one chapter.
"If you are depressed, you are living in the past. If you are anxious, you are living in the future. If you are at peace, you are living in the present." - Lao Tzu
Think about it!
Are you constantly worrying, fretting about something that's not even happened yet? Have you worked yourself into a complete tailspin.....stressing over things that RIGHT THIS MINUTE are out of your control?
Are you living in THIS MOMENT? Doing what you can do NOW to make a difference? Are you looking at others' accomplishments and comparing yourself, meanwhile PARALYZING YOURSELF by analyzing what THEY may be doing that you MAY NOT be doing? Or are you doing what YOU can NOW to create the positive changes that will take you in the direction of what YOU want to achieve???????
If you're stuck in this anxious, worry wart, freak out every time you see someone else achieve something in their lives and look at yourself and FREEZE, stop spinning your wheels and DO SOMETHING in the present.....something NOW that can help you take steps toward changing YOU.
When's the last time you sat down and actually enjoyed the moment you're in instead of thinking back or ahead to THE NEXT THING? You'll find that if you STOP and SMELL THE ROSES, BREATHE into the NOW that's CURRENT and HAPPENING, you will find a whole new degree of happiness that is likely lacking in your life.
When I see people constantly stuck in worry/anxiety mode....it reminds me of who I used to be.....and I tend to distance from it cause I'm terrified of being that way again. I've worked really hard to pull myself out of that anxious, worry-ridden life.....and am always trying to CONTROL THE CONTROLLABLE and influence the rest.
Instead of chasing the unknown in your head....playing out potential dramas, worrying about what MAY or MAY NOT happen.......breathe, and do what you can IN THIS MOMENT.....to LIVE....to LOVE....to LAUGH. If you're stuck in that cycle.....you're wasting your present life away......and are likely taking one step forward and three back....wondering WHY you're never truly happy!
